In Texas, an agency that sends workers to help people at home with bathing, dressing, meals, transfers and other daily living tasks must hold a Home and Community Support Services Agency (HCSSA) license for Personal Assistance Services from the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). The license shows the agency is registered and inspected by the state. It does not rate the quality of its care or its price. Ask for its rates, minimum hours and whether caregivers are employees.
